Morning Devotion 63 God’s Blessing (Part I)

What Are the Blessings of God?

“The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”
— Proverbs 10:22 (KJV)

Reflection and Teaching

God’s blessings are far more than material possessions or temporary comforts. His blessing is a spiritual covering, a mark of divine favor, and a flow of grace that touches every part of your life—spirit, soul, and body.

Proverbs 10:22 tells us that when God blesses you, there is no sorrow attached. His blessing doesn’t bring regret, stress, or striving. It brings wholeness, rest, joy, and peace. Whether in your family, your health, your finances, or your purpose—God’s blessing makes you rich in every area that matters.

God’s blessing isn’t random or reserved for a chosen few. It is part of His covenant with His children. It’s not a lottery—it’s a promise. He blesses those who walk with Him, obey Him, trust Him, and seek Him.

Life Example

Imagine standing under a waterfall. You don’t make the water flow—you simply position yourself under it and let it pour. That’s what it’s like with the blessings of God. You don’t have to strive or manipulate; you just need to be in position—in relationship, in obedience, in trust.

In many of our families, receiving a blessing—especially for something like marriage—can feel almost impossible. There are endless conditions: build your parents a house, educate your siblings, marry into a specific family, prove your loyalty, fulfill every cultural expectation. And just when you think you’ve met the conditions, they change again. It can feel like a moving target, hard to please, and exhausting.

But with God, it’s not like that. He doesn’t dangle blessings like a reward for the perfect performance. He blesses those who trust Him, those who walk in faith, those who believe. His blessings flow not through pressure, but through positioning—a surrendered heart, a believing spirit, and an obedient life.

Key Lessons and Takeaways

  • The blessing of the Lord brings abundance without sorrow.
  • God’s blessing is spiritual first, then visible in natural things.
  • His blessings touch your life holistically—body, mind, soul, and spirit.
  • Blessing is not earned by performance but received through relationship and alignment.

Personal Application

Do you believe that God wants to bless you? Or are you living as though you must earn or fight for favor? Take time today to reflect on what true blessing means—not just money or success, but peace, purpose, health, joy, and closeness with God.

Step into the posture of expectation. God delights in blessing His children.

Prayer

Father, thank You that Your blessings make rich and add no sorrow. I shift my mindset from striving to receiving. Help me to walk in alignment with You, so I may stand under the flow of Your grace. Teach me to value what You value and to recognize blessing in all its forms. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Encouragement

You don’t have to chase the blessing. Just chase God—and His blessings will overtake you.

When do you look at yourself and say I am blessed?

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for their’s is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:3 KJV

Most often we miss to see the blessings in our lives because we in the business of comparing ourselves with other people. We all blessed differently because God did not create copies but originals that would be unique and colorful.

You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule. Matthew 5:3 MSG. You blessed when you are end of the rope because the ME dies but you learn to depend on God. Some miss this moment because they focusing on things that parish.

You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you. Matthew 5:4 MSG. Most often when you loose someone or something dear to you, you get swallowed by grief and hopelessness. At this moment nothing makes sense and God becomes your punching bag because you realise his closeness.

You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought. Matthew 5:5 MSG Paul says I am content whether I have or have not. If or when we come to this place of saying ‘All is well as long I have God by my side’ this is a place of surrender and letting God. Stress less, less anxiety, less ….

You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family. Matthew 5:9 MSG. You blessed when you are a peace maker, bringing peace to others and yourself. Not being a trouble stirrer that is when you become God’s family.

You’re blessed when you get your inside world—your mind and heart—put right. Then you can see God in the outside world. Matthew 5:8 MSG. You blessed when you give yourself time to spring clean your mind and heart. Working on your attitude, your judgement of others, your jealousy, your pride, your emotions that does not help you then you can see everything in God’s perspective. You can have God’s eyes and ears of love and forgiveness.

You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.Matthew 5:6 MSG. You blessed when you spend time eating the word and meditating on it day and night. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8 KJV

Never underestimate your blessings because what you have others want it. Always live a grateful life, knowing you are blessed beyond measure right where you are, lacking something does not reduce your blessing.

May the Lord Shine his face on you..

The LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you.
Numbers 6:25 CEB

I always asked myself what God meant when he gave Moses this priestly blessing to bless his children .

Tell Aaron and his sons: You will bless the Israelites as follows. Say to them: The LORD bless you and protect you. The LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The LORD lift up his face to you and grant you peace.
Numbers 6:23‭-‬26 CEB

The Lord bless you and protect you, this means that it was God’s intention to bless us and without protection we might lose or not see his blessing. This is not just the closure of a service bless me verse but a command God gave for Priests to pronounce to his children and he promised that when they pronounce it he will bless them. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. Numbers 6:27 KJV.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Ephesians 1:3 KJV

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19 KJV

The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: When his face shine upon you, it means his glory is upon you, he looks at you with a smile of humility. When God’s face shine upon you his grace coves you to a point where nothing becomes impossible. We don’t desire him to turn his face away from us.

O God, the mighty Commander of Angel Armies, come back and rescue us! Let your beaming face shine upon us with the sunrise rays of glory. Then nothing will ever stop us again!
Psalms 80:19 TPT

Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; And teach me thy statutes.
Psalm 119:135 KJV

Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; Incline thine ear unto me: In the day when I call answer me speedily.
Psalm 102:2 KJV

The Lord lift up his face and give you peace. When he lift up his face means looking in your eyes with mercy and giving you peace.

I pray these blessings follow you, as you walk in his statues. May his grace abound in all that you do. AMEN

How does this multiplicity works in real life? How do I get it?

Give generously and generous gifts will be given back to you, shaken down to make room for more. Abundant gifts will pour out upon you with such an overflowing measure that it will run over the top! The measurement of your generosity becomes the measurement of your return.”
Luke 6:38 TPT

I have learnt that we blessed when we give, what you give will be multiplied back to you. Time is money and if you are willing to give your time to others and do good, you will definitely be blessed. We have this thinking that giving is about money and you must give what you have. There are people that always expect to receive but give nothing, that is why they lack so much. Abundance mentality is giving knowing that you will always have enough.

And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil. Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out. And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
2 Kings 4:2‭-‬3‭, ‬5‭-‬6 KJV. First you must have something that can be multiplied. Zero multiplied by zero is zero. The little that you have give to God it is multiplied

As surely as the LORD your God lives,” she replied, “I don’t have any food; only a handful of flour in a jar and a bit of oil in a bottle. Look at me. I’m collecting two sticks so that I can make some food for myself and my son. We’ll eat the last of the food and then die.” Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go and do what you said. Only make a little loaf of bread for me first. Then bring it to me. You can make something for yourself and your son after that. This is what Israel’s God, the LORD, says: The jar of flour won’t decrease and the bottle of oil won’t run out until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth.” The widow went and did what Elijah said. So the widow, Elijah, and the widow’s household ate for many days. The jar of flour didn’t decrease nor did the bottle of oil run out, just as the LORD spoke through Elijah.1 Kings 17:12‭-‬16 CEB. The widow gave her last food and God multiplied the little she had. The bless me vibe that we have, when we not willing to sacrifice the little we have will not give us abundance.

One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said, “A youth here has five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that for a crowd like this?” Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass there. They sat down, about five thousand of them. Then Jesus took the bread. When he had given thanks, he distributed it to those who were sitting there. He did the same with the fish, each getting as much as they wanted. When they had plenty to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather up the leftover pieces, so that nothing will be wasted.” John 6:8‭-‬12 CEB. The youth has to sacrifice his bread and fish so that the multitude can eat. Multiplication happen to what was provided. So God multiply what you give not what you get. Give me, give me attitude create scarcity and lack. The little you have sacrifice for the good will make you see God multiplicity.

Abundance is yours

Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the first of all your crops. Then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will burst with wine.
Proverbs 3:9‭-‬10 CEB

You crown the year with your goodness; your paths overflow with rich food.
Psalms 65:11 CEB

But if someone doesn’t provide for their own family, and especially for a member of their household, they have denied the faith. They are worse than those who have no faith.
1 Timothy 5:8 CEB

If you agree and obey, you will eat the best food of the land.
Isaiah 1:19 CEB

Abraham ran to the cattle, took a healthy young calf, and gave it to a young servant, who prepared it quickly. Then Abraham took butter, milk, and the calf that had been prepared, put the food in front of them, and stood under the tree near them as they ate. Then one of the men said, “I will definitely return to you about this time next year. Then your wife Sarah will have a son!” Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him.
Genesis 18:7‭-‬8‭, ‬10 CEB

Our forefather Abraham must be our role model or teacher at least. He took his best and prepared for his visitors and in return they spoke life to his family. I have seen people who have plenty give like there is no tomorrow and I have seen stingy misers strive daily. So I decided to check my constitution- bible to understand what the word say about living an abundant life. Life is too short not to experience the abundance and multiplicity of the Lord, praying and crying when you have something to do won’t help. This principle of giving works all the time, whether you are a Christian or not. As children of the King of kings, we cannot be spectators to the world live abundantly and we cry about lack every day.

The Bill gates foundation plans to disburse an additional $40 billion by 2026.

That brings Warren Buffett total lifetime giving to a record $48 billion. The recipients of the shares are the same five foundations he’s given to every year since 2006.

Motsepe, the first black billionaire, announced that he will give away half of his fortune to improve the lives of the poor and marginalised. He is the first African to join Bill Gates and Warren Buffet’s Giving Pledge, which encourages billionaires to donate at least half of their wealth to philanthropic causes of their choice.

Rupert donates large portions of his funds towards charitable and philanthropic endeavours, mostly in the family’s homeland of South Africa.
