I Want an aerial, what?……..

There is this lady who stays in the village and she tells me her story which I will be sharing in the next three episodes. This lady I am sharing her story worked as a domestic worker and she used common taxi as transportation to commute to work daily. In the transport to work, she had other ladies who were also domestic workers who travelled with her and they will talk about television soap opera that played the previous night every day and she did not have a television.

When the other ladies were narrating, sharing and demonstrating their experiences of the soap opera, she will sit quietly and listen wishing she had access to television. One day she decided to discuss the issue with her husband and she was very sad and the husband felt her pain but they did not have money to buy television. The husband indicated that television needed arial, and connection and they did not have so much money as they were struggling to just feed their children.

This became a topic of every night until the husband came with a suggestion that they must buy either television after some time buy the arial or digital dish then subscribe for connection. The wife was so happy with the suggestion and agreed with the idea. Then the husband said we should go and shop for cheap televisions and the wife disagreed and said no we should first but the arial. The husband was confused why should they start with with the arial and the wife laughed and said the arial will be hanged outside the house and everyone will see that they have a television. 1 Peter 3:3-4
Whose adorning let it not be the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on apparel; but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible apparel of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. This story indicates how much we want to show others that we belong and we rather look at our external beauty and not care about our internal beauty and Peter says we must clothe the hidden man of the heart which is a great price in God’s sight. I wonder who am I adorning and who are you adorning?

Lots of love see you on the next chapter continuation of the story

Never been easy to hear you…..

Remember what it says: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.” Hebrews 3:15 NLT

One day I was attending a church service and during the service there was time for collection. It was during this time when people were moving to the front to bring the collection when I heard a small coin fall. You could hear it was small coin, and the second coin fell and this one caught the attention of many because you could hear it was a bigger coin. I smiled looking at people helping the owner to search for the coin.

You may wonder why was I smiling? I was smiling because most people say they cannot hear God’s voice but they could hear a coin falling and also determine its value. How strange is that? Today I was pulled to this verse The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice.John 10:3‭-‬4 NLT.This verse says the sheep knows his voice and when they hear his voice, they follow the Shepherd and the shepherd takes care of his sheep not any sheep but his sheep.

My question was if we cannot hear our shepherd it means we can go astray and be stolen by thieves. We listen to various things such as music, news, drama, gossip etc and we can even tell who is speaking or who is singing but we can’t hear the voice of our shepherd. I would be sad if I was the shepherd of the flock that can’t even recognize my voice. I like the way the shepherd say that they hear my voice and he does not speak about they listen to my voice, because we can listen but not hear.

So the shepherd used the word hear because when he calls, the sound does not only go to the ear but also to the heart. He says “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. Revelation 3:20 NLT.He stands at the door of our hearts and knocks and if we hear with our hearts and open our hearts he only wants to be our friend but we say we can’t hear him. I desire we can hear him as we hear falling coins or the voices on our television or radio. Remember he has never been a silent God, he loves to communicate with his sheep because he loves them dearly.

Rest in me….

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalms 91:1 NLT

It was a cool summer day when I decided to take a nap since I have been worried about many things that were not going my way . I had visited a medical practitioner two days earlier and he checked my BP and found that it was very high and he advised me rest more often . I was in a very stressful situation and prayed a lot but the situation did not change.

I slept praying and I can’t tell whether I was asleep or was awake but I saw and heard Jesus saying to me “Charity rest in me” I was puzzled by this and decided to pray about the word also asking Holy Spirit to guide me to find verses that confirm the word I heard. Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28 NLT This was the first verse that came very strong on my spirit and looking at it I realized that I was carrying a heavy load and could not rest. Why was I not giving Jesus my load? I asked myself but I knew that I prayed about my worries but realised the issue was that even after praying I still thought about my load all the time. So Jesus was saying when I have given him my load, I must learn to trust him with it and rest. How difficult can it be to rest.

The next verse was very assuring to me that Jesus was capable of taking care of my worries but he needed me to believe “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.Matthew 6:31‭-‬32 NLT. The question that dominated my mind after reading this verse was that being worried about these issues was a sign of unbelief and I didn’t want to be someone who does not believe.I tried figuring out this unbelief thing with this example If you give someone your card to withdraw the money they need for a project and they don’t take the card but go on complaining about lack of money for the project. What does this mean, does it mean the person does not trust the card has the money or does it mean the person does not trust that you have the money. At the end its all about believing, How difficult can it be to rest

The next day I woke up with this verse : And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. Hebrews 3:18‭-‬19 KJV.The children of Israel could not enter into God’s rest because of unbelief. This made me very sad to realise that we cannot enter his rest because of unbelief and I pray for my unbelief. I ask God to help me to believe and not to worry about things I cannot change.

Is it cheating?

One day I was attending a youth conference, as you might know that young people have got curious minds and like to ask difficult questions. This young person asked the presenter that if he has a boyfriend or girlfriend that she or he loves very much and on the other hand she or he also loves God is that not cheating? The hall laughed and the presenter tried explaining but the more he tried to explain the more questions were raised. At the rate of questions and observing the presenter ,I really appreciated his calmness and understanding that these questions might be questions that these young people ask themselves frequently but are afraid to ask adults because of fearing that they can be judged. I know of people who will say its difficult for them to do certain things because God is watching the 24/7.

They asked a question about Psalms 63:6 When I remember thee upon my bed,
and meditate on thee in the night watches.
The question was how do you sleep with your partner who might be your wife or husband and be remembering someone else ? As I was sitting thinking I realised the answer was in the next verse Psalms 63:7 Because thou hast been my help,
therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
This means you remember the person because of the help they provided you in time of your need, you might be with someone but your mind still have thoughts of appreciating the greatness around you.

Most of questions were based on meditation like this verse Joshua 1:8
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
The question here was should I be spending more time reading the bible? Should I carry my bible every time so that I don’t depart from it? How will people think of me or look at me? and in my thoughts was these young people have their cell phones in their hands every second what do people say or think of them?Technology has made it easy for us not to depart from the word of God but what is more important is to do according to it.

This was also a question Mark 12:30
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
They were saying if you love God with all your heart, soul. mind and strength what will be left for you to love others? I thought that most often we read or quote scriptures incomplete and this create more questions whilst the answer might be in the next verse Mark 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. This second verse answers the question that if you love yourself then you can be able to love someone else unless you love God to the point of not knowing how to love yourself which is unlikely.

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. As they were closing the session, I could hear them saying they know and understand that God is love and when they show love to others they showcasing God. Genesis 33:4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.Genesis 33:9-10 And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself. And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I h.ad seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.

The session showed me the beauty of openness, respect and trust although I will still maintain that God is creative, he made our hearts so special that we can love him completely and still have love for others and that is not cheating but expressing the creativity of our creator

How to claim?

Matthew 21:21-22
Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

In my feedback from the previous episode, most people asked me how to claim from our father’s will. I will make few examples but remember in our father’s home everything is received by faith. This is a home of believers and its not a home of the “ I will see to believe” but its a home of the “I believe then I see.”

David will be my first example: David armed with the knowledge of his father’s will Exodus 15:13-14 “You have led in your steadfast love the people whom you have redeemed;you have guided them by your strength to your holy abode. The peoples have heard; they tremble;pangs have seized the inhabitants of Philistia. David spoke empowered by his father’s will to the situation in-front of him and said 1 Samuel 17:45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. David spoke his father’s will and he knew and trusted that the will of his father was legitimate and could stand any trial. I hope you know the results which was an amazing victory.

Second example will be Jesus the son of God on earth as a human being who new his father Genesis 1:3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Jesus knew that his father’s will was to create things by just speaking words and as a son he says in John 5:19 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise. He was saying I do what I see my father doing, my father speak and everything stops, listens and obey. So Jesus spoke and many situations on earth changed look at the fig tree, it was alive today and dead from its roots the next day.

So lets talk about our fathers will and us.Proverbs 18:20-21 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth;and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue:and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Everything you need is in your mouth. Your mouth is so powerful and should be used to create the future you want, then use it to claim things in your father’s will. Psalms 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods;
and all of you are children of the most High.
These words in the hands of a believer are so powerful and can bring so much confidence that no situation can overwhelm us. You need to believe that by his stripes you were healed that healing is in the will see 1 Peter 2:24, believe that he was made poor whilst rich so that you can be rich it is in the will in 2 Cor 8:9 He has set you free from anything that is holding you slave in the will at John 8:36. So we need to trust God’s will and speak the clauses of the will knowing its true that will be a way of claiming our inheritance. Lets see what David saw and see what Jesus saw. Our mouth is not only to eat but to speak things into existence, so let’s stop cursing, gossiping and saying things we don’t mean using the asset that can change our lives and design our desired destiny.

The will…..

Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

I learned about this lady who had to inherit, his brother’s inheritance but his brother had written a will with conditions that required her to meet before each claim on the will can be made. The first condition was that she has to be sober for three months and if she is tested and found to be sober she will get a certain percentage of the inheritance and a date was provided to her for her meeting with a lawyer and medical practitioner for testing. She continued with her life and drank, telling herself she will sober up two weeks before the date but she missed the date because she was drunk. The second condition was for her not to be engaged in a fight for a period of six months. After realising that she had missed her first appointment, she got angry and drank more and when someone tried to stop her from drinking. She became wild and fought until police were called. She missed all the conditions and in the process lost an opportunity to inherit her brothers wealth which ended up inherited by strangers as per the brothers wishes.

This prompted me to ask for the will that I always hear people speak about in their prayers or statements. Most often people will say “not my will but God’s will” or “God let your will be done” and I wondered where is this will and how to get it? In my search I found this definition of a testament according to the free encyclopaedia ” A will or testament is a legal document that expresses a person’s (testator) wishes as to how their property (estate) is to be distributed after their death and as to which person (executor) is to manage the property until its final distribution.” Then this meant to me God wrote his will which is the Old and New Testament.

This mean that our inheritance as the Children of God is written in the will by God himself and waiting for us to claim it. The sister was too drunk and busy fighting with everyone and missed the opportunity to claim what was hers. God in his will he had to clarify who are the heirs so that the will is legitimate. Romans 8:16-17 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. My challenge now which brings more questions;is why are we not claiming what belongs to us as heirs and joint- heirs with Christ and I wonder is it because we don’t believe our father has written us in the will ?or is it because the will has conditions that we cannot meet? or is it because the will is too huge and complicated we need a lawyer to clarify us on its Contents? or is it because we don’t have time to read the will ourselves? or is it because the will is not legitimate in our eyes?

These are the questions that linger in my mind and looking at Jesus confidence in this statement John 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. This is the child who speaks about the father that he knows very well and knows what are his capabilities without doubt or confusion. I wish I can speak like this about my father and and my inheritance, what about you?

How can I trust…….

Psalms 56:3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.

One day after a church service this little girl came to me and asked me, how do we trust someone we cannot see? I did not expect that question, I was quiet for sometime and I decided to make it a discussion and our conversation goes like this. Me: ” Why are you asking?” Little girl: ” I always hear in church services, everyone saying trust in the Lord and I have not seen him” Me: ” Ok, do you have a heart?” Little girl: ” Yes I have a heart” smiling and touching her chest. Me: ” Let’s be sure about this do you really have a heart?” Little Girl looked puzzled and said ” Yes I have a heart” Me ” Have you seen your heart?” Little girl smiling ” No I have not seen my heart but I know its here” touching her chest and I said” This is how we know that God is alive and we trust him”

Trust is an important choice that we make as human beings everyday, we choose to trust products, people and many things. Trusting God for a Christian believer is also a choice and most often we trust his Word but doubt knock us down. In Psalm the word trust is found 71 times in which most of the verses were written by David. This tells me that trust was very critical in David’s journey with God and this must be the same in our Christian journey

I have seen the pain of parents and children who have developed a relationship of not trusting one another. A person will start by saying ” whatever I say does not matter because you don’t trust me” and this happens because of a series of events that has led to trust being destroyed. As people who live in an environment that lack trust, we tend not to trust anyone including God. Why I say this is because we still live in fear, worry, anxiety which signals that we don’t trust his word completely John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

I know this truth is hard but let’s look at how terrified we are during this COVID 19 period and we justify our actions by saying we are realistic and we cannot test God. The truth is our God says in Psalms 91:5-6 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. I am happy that God is fair and gives us a choice to trust him or trust the facts. David was told scaring facts about Goliath but he chose to trust God. Israelites faced with the raging sea as a fact they had to trust God and walk in the dried sea. When Peter was called by Jesus to walk on water, he trusted Jesus and walked on water but facts drowned him.
